The Brian & Maxine Newell Prostate Cancer Research Foundation

Two years after being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, Brian Newell and his wife Maxine travelled along the Oodnadatta Track in South Australia.  They followed the "Old Ghan" railway line for several hundred kilometres.

Inspired by the landscape and history of the Old Ghan railway, Brian made a profound choice: To produce a work of art to benefit prostate cancer research.

Brian was a gifted artist with over thirty years experience as a professional photographer in the RAAF, with Australian and New Zealand newspapers, and running his own photographic studio.  He was also an outback enthusiast with a perceptive feel for its history.

Following the Old Ghan Railway Line 1878 - 1980: A Photographic Essay is Brian's enduring legacy.

Today Brian and Maxine's friends are working to build on the couple's vision, conceived along the Oodnadatta Track, to make a contribution of significance to prostate cancer research.

We invite you to add to Brian's legacy.
