Research Grants
The Trustees of Newell Foundation favour making grants for the
purchase of
laboratory equipment to assist researchers in their efforts to find a
cure for prostate cancer. So far grants totalling $71,495 have been made to research institutions.
10 March 2008. Newell
Foundation provided $9,472 to the Flinders Medical Centre to
enable the purchase of an ETTAN DALTsix Separation Unit, 230V and Ettan
DALT II Low Fluorscence glass plates. These are used to separate
proteins extracted from prostate cancer and normal tissues.
10 April 2007. A
grant of $13,823 was made to Flinders Medical Centre for a Model
337ND Pulsed Nitrogen Laser System and fibre optic connectors to study
intra cellular signalling processes in prostate cancer cells.
16 September 2005. A grant of $15,000 was made to Flinders Medical Centre to go towards the purchase of a Rota Gene 2000.
17 June 2004. A
grant of $16,000 was made to the Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research
Laboratories to go towards the purchase of a PCR Enclosure Chamber
and a PCR Thermal Cycler.
4 April 2003. Hanson
Institute, the research division of the Institute of Medical and
Veterinary Science, received $17,200 from us for laboratory equipment
for use by medical researchers on the University of Adelaide campus
including staff of the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
